In our house we call it 'snuggling'

It’s been a long while since I last posted a blog entry and much has happened. It’s been a crazy year so far and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings. The best thing that’s happened this year? I signed with Elephant Tree Publishing, an Australian-based publishing company.

After reading What Lies Beneath Us, I received an email saying that they wanted my manuscript. I couldn’t believe it! The very thing I had wanted for a long time was coming true. The novel is about a mother suffering from postpartum depression who is accused of murdering her infant son. There are many twists and turns in it and just when you think you understand the motives of each of the characters, I mix things up again so you won’t know which way is up!

It has been a labour of love for me, I have enjoyed the journey that this book has taken me on. It was hard to write in places, especially the autopsy of a ten-month-old child, but it was an integral part of the story. There is a large component of police procedure in the book, but what do you expect in a crime novel?

I love writing in the crime genre, I enjoy getting into the minds of the characters and exploring their motivations for what they do. Most of what I write is very dark and not for the faint of heart. In this particular book, I decided to put a trigger warning at the front, so people could make up their own minds if they wanted to read the book or not as it has some strong violent and triggering themes to it.

You can pre-order a physical copy at https://www.elephanttreepublishing.com.au/current-titles/ or you can wait for the Amazon link, which will be forthcoming. I will post again when it’s available for pre-order. I will be doing a launch soon, but that’s a topic for another blog post.

Note: In our house, we call murder ‘snuggling’ because we have an eight-year-son, so my books are full of snuggling, but I think he might be catching on. I’d better think of a new term!
